“Blair’s Foster Socks” – A mother continues her daughter’s mission
Michele Shanahan DeMoss provided an amazing and inspiring presentation at the General Meeting of Ladies of Charity on October 4.
Father Michael Mulhearn, C.M. celebrated Mass in the chapel at Visitation Church in Kansas City, Mo. This was followed by Michele  Shanahan DeMoss’s talk about “Blair’s Foster Socks” project explaining  how it was her daughter Blair’s vision to provide socks to foster children. Tragically, at the age of 11 Blair was killed in a freak accident  on July 4, 2011. In her memory Michele has carried on Blair’s dedication to helping foster children with the establishment of a golf tournament to fund scholarships for children living in distressed situations.
Books for foster children were collected at our October meeting and resulted in a table full of them. (above photo with Michele, left, and LOCMKC President, Rosemary Nelson). Michele also started a shop in which profits help provide funds for families in need. According to Mary Lew McCarty of the Ladies of Charity, “It was an uplifting program and everyone was so pleased to learn about Michele and help in some small way.”
